Canal suicide attempt failed

IT WAS the 93ft high M6 Motorway Viaduct over the Manchester Ship Canal that a man chose to commit suicide, but it was a failed attempt.
He landed in the water without injury, so simply swam out to the bank, Alan Tilbury reports.

The man had driven up the motorway to the viaduct by car, parked it by the barriers then climbed the railings and jumped.
A passing motorist called the police, who discovered that the man had swum out, but he was taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries
