Boat thieves cleared

TWO men who stole a narrowboat that was moored near Kentish Town Lock on the Regent's Canal have been cleared of stealing the boat.
However, one of the men, Stanilaw Mroz, who was discovered drunk on the floor of the canal boat with a can of beer and smoking cannabis was found guilty of a separate charge of criminal damage to the boat owner's property.
Arrested
He was arrested with his friend Piotr Koscielniak, after the boat. Bognor was discovered with a broken window and he was discovered inside the boat, and escorted off.
The boat's owner told the police that his boat had been moved from its moorings and that his possessions had been broken.
The judge awarded £50 in compensation to the owner for the distress caused, and the defendant also ordered to pay a £100 fine, £100 in court costs and £100 for cannabis possession.
