Anglers are exempt!

BRITISH Waterways have confirmed that anglers will be exempt from the new law banning tents on the towpath.

It was Sue of No Problem who wrote to British Waterways about the new rule banning tents from the towpath, and was told by Customer Service Co-Ordinator Sarina Young:

The draft byelaw you quote refers to camping on the towpath. We view the ' bivvie' that fishermen erect as a standard part of angling equipment and as longs as the towing path is not permanently blocked then it is fine for them to use this.

Asks Sue:

"So when is a bivvy (she spelt it wrong) not a bivvy? Well, when it is a tent of course!"
