100 miles to raise cash

ARSONISTS thought it very 'clever' to burn down a replica iron age roundhouse at a nature reserve, but two musicians have walked 100 miles around the Warwickshire Ring  to raise cash to rebuild it.

Wes Finch and Matt Hernandez, together with dog Nanu, walked the entire Ring, playing each night at different canalside venues along the way, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Raised £600

Their efforts raised £600, that can go towards rebuilding  the  roundhouse at the Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve that was destroyed by arsonists a short while ago.

The three started their walk at Napton on the Oxford Canal, along the Grand Union Canal through Leamington, Warwick and Solihull to Birmingham. Then along the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal on to the Coventry Canal to Tamworth, then down through Nuneaton to the Oxford Canal at Hawkesbury Junction through Rugby and Braunston, and finally arriving back at Napton a week later, tired but triumphant.

Singer/song writer Wes explained:

"We're big nature lovers who have both grown up in the area. We like to go on country rambles and we wanted to do something for the Wildlife Trust.
