THE body of Arthur Prosser, who has been missing for six weeks has been found in the Grand Union Canal near the Walker Stadium in Leicester.

It was police divers who had been searching the waterway, that discovered the body, and confirmed that it is believed to be the missing man.

The divers who took part in the search yesterday were from Nottinghamshire police as Leicestershire does not have its own underwater search team, and used sonar equipment.

It was the man's son, Graham, who first contacted the police that his father was missing on the 3rd December.  There was concern as he had Parkinson's disease and a heart condition, but had not taken his daily medication with him.
