YORKSHIRE Water has plans to reduce sewage overflowing into the Huddersfield Broad Canal when it rains.
The work will include the construction of a new surface water sewer and redirecting highways drains away from the waterway, Janet Friend reports.
Completed by November
Work is soon to start and is expected to be completed by November, with the board stating that though it will not stop spills it will reduce them by 61%.
The surface water and rainfall will be separated from sewage so that only surface water will go into the canal.
This is all part of the reducing sewage into the waterways and rivers throughout the country.
