THE ROCHDALE CANAL is closed—and not through lack of water.
It is through a broken head gate paddle, Keith Gudgin reports.
This is on Oxford Street Lock 88 on the canal in Manchester, with our being told that the Canal & River Trust's local team have identified what is needed to undertake the repair to the paddle.
Left until today
But have not actually undertaken the required work, but left it until later.
This was part of the Rochdale that was closed through lack of water during the dry period with the men searching the drained waterway in Manchester, as shown.
