Still no safe haven at Dunham

THE Canal & River Trust told of the urgency of repairing the 'safe haven' moorings at Dunham on the tidal Trent.

But they still have not been made safe and boaters are still not allowed to use the moorings, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was on the 12th January that we reported the moorings had broken and were stuck-up out of the water so were deemed unsafe to use, with the trust stating it needed a crane that was in use elsewhere.

But that was 11 weeks ago, and still the moorings have not been repaired.

With all the floods causing such a high level of the river and together with the high tides, this really should be a matter of importance for boaters to have somewhere safe to moor on a tidal river rather than risk being swept away out of control.
