EASTER sees the season's narrowboat trips start on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

They will run throughout the year until the 31st October, now that it has re-opened following maintenance work.

‘Little Star’ (‘Seren Fach’) will again be offering daily skippered narrowboat trips across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct—a UNESCO World Heritage structure.

Earlier in March, a major health check was carried out on the 307 metres long and 38 metres high aqueduct by Canal & River Trust, with the aqueduct drained for engineers to inspect bolts, joins and seals in its drained channel.

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct trip boat Little Star takes visitors on 45 minutes return trips along the Llangollen Canal and across the  historic aqueduct.

Refreshments

Refreshments are available to purchase on board, including hot and cold drinks, and over the Easter weekend an Easter Bunny will offer chocolate treats to children.

The narrowboat offers space for up to 48 passengers. Adult tickets are priced at £10 each, children (aged under 16) are priced at £6. Family tickets for two adults and two children are priced at £25 each. Trips depart daily at 11am, 12 noon, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm from Canal Wharf, Trevor, Llangollen LL20 7TT. Parking is available a short walk away at LL14 3SG. Booking in advance is advised. [The photograph was taken when we cruised on the aqueduct in 1997.]
