Starting on silt removal on Droitwich and Barge canals

CONTRACTORS are 'getting ready to mobilise' over the next week to remove the silt that closed the Droitwich and Barge canals.
This was closed on the 24th of January after the heavy rains that affected parts of both the Droitwich and Barge canals, Keith Gudgin reports.
The silt piled up against various locks as it was washed down into the Severn.
Clear by Easter
It is hoped that all will be clear for Easter opening or even before, the trust states.
A site meeting has been held between the trust and contractors, mapping the areas that require the spot dredging.
