The Comic Opera continues

THE Comic Opera, of the Don Doors on the New Junction Canal still continues.

And still causing stoppages—owing to the many and varied issues with its gearbox, Keith Gudgin reports.

It being away for repairs and back again various times and even a temporary gearbox that still failed. Our Keith certainly named it well!

Will not raise the door

Yesterday, Tuesday 27th, we were informed the present gearbox (not sure whether permanent or temporary!) will not raise the door and the water level could not be maintained, so still no passage.

This was fitted this time by 'operatives' instead of contractors, but contractors will be on site to assess.

This all started on the 24th of January—over a month ago—and still not repaired.
