Broken key closes waterway

A BROKEN key has closed the Huddersfield Broad Canal yesterday, Wednesday.

A boater advised that there was no passage through the Loco Lift Bridge as there was a broken key stuck in the lock on the pedestal that allows operation of the bridge.

The the bridge can not be opened for boating traffic, but contractors have been made aware and will attend as soon as possible.

This time the contractors were quick off the mark, as the key has been released from its lock and the lift bridge is again in operation.
