Trent closed until end of March

IT WAS at the end of January that the trust decided to close the Trent.

This was as boats were grounding on the silt and debris brought down by the floods, Keith Gudgin reported.

It was decided to close the Trent between Bridge 5 and Towpath Bridge, until it could be inspected.

Worse than first thought

This has now been acomplished but the inspection discovered that it is worse than first thought, backed-up by more boats being grounded.

So it needs to be dredged, but it seems a dredger will not be available in the near future, but the trust promise it will be dredged and re-opened by the end of March, should nothing arise to prevent it.
