Leeds & Liverpool swing bridge closed
ONCE again a broken barrier has prevented a swing bridge working.
The Brewery Swing Bridge (177) at Skipton on the Leeds & Liverpool is now closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
This occurred on Tuesday with damage to one of its barriers, putting it out of action and preventing navigation as the bridge is in the 'closed' position.
Parts required
Though contractors have been to asses the damage, nothing can be done as parts are required and it is a matter of awaiting their arrival.
The contractors will return once these new parts have arrived.
The Brewery Swing Bridge was closed on the 5th July, in 2023 repaired and broke again five days later. It also failed on the 3rd of November 2022, repaired and failed again on the 4th of December.
Hopefully this will not occur this time, with it out of action again after being repaired, as in the past.
