'Abandonment list' keeps cropping up

I SEE the expression 'abandonment list' keeps cropping up in regards to closing canals, writes T. Lang.

I, and I should imagine many others, find this worrying, especially when Canal & River Trust tell that lack of funding will lead to their decline and to the eventual closure of some parts of the network.

Huddersfield Narrow and Rochdale

I was on the waterways when so many were restored, but two of them are getting stoppage after stoppage, these being the Huddersfield Narrow and Rochdale—of which both have had closures listed todaythat had millions of pounds spent bringing them back to use.

Now the stoppages are such a menace that I, and I know of others, have left the Rochdale as it is no longer viable to plan anything, so can see these two heading any closure list, that will be a tremendous shame.

I think we should all hope that the trust gets its money, but also hope it will spend it wisely,
