THE entire Wigan Flight is to be closed for two weeks from 3rd to the 14th July.
This is to fix the fluctuating water level between the top lock and the next that has been leaking for weeks, Keith Gudgin reports, he adding to which we—and undoubtedly many others—ask 'so why was it not fixed during the winter'?
Monday to Friday
To add to the problem it is contractors that will be undertaking whatever it is that needs doing, so the job will take from a Monday to a Friday—and for two weeks!
CaRT now call the workers 'our Reactive Team', that it tells are unable to prioritise this sooner. But it adds the news that the navigation will remain open until Sunday 2nd—obviously!
