Trent & Mersey drowning

A MAN'S body was pulled out of The Trent & Mersey Canal in Stoke yesterday.

This resulted in a large emergency service presence, Keith Gudgin reports.

The rescuers

This included ambulance and police and fire personal together with a water rescue unit and an air ambulance, with the towpath cordoned off.

The man was confirmed dead at the scene after being assessed by ambulance staff, as it was realised that he could not be saved.

The police confirmed it is a non-suspicious death.
