Not a very relaxing experience on towpaths

ANOTHER reason for a lack of wellbeing on the canals is the number of injuries caused by cyclists, writes Graham Booth.

Getting on for two years ago, I was struck on the elbow by the handlebar of a cyclist who obviously thought I should have got out of his way more quickly.

Reminded of the event

The egg sized lump and the discomfort have now gone but I still have a bruise to remind me of the event.

As a result, I avoid the towpaths at weekends and keep looking over my shoulder when I do venture onto them—not a very relaxing experience.
