Silt closes Droitwich Canal

THE build-up of silt on the Droitwich Canal has closed it to navigation.

Lack of dredging has closed the waterway between Vines Park Barge Lock and Lock 6 and also between Barge Lock to Barge Lock Swing Bridge on the canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Extensive build-up

This is due to 'an extensive build-up of silt, state Canal & River Trust, explaining that it is monitoring the situation.

There is no mention of the area being dredged, only that the canal will be reopened when it is safe to do so.
