Boat jammed in Preston Brook Tunnel

A NARROWBOAT that obviously was not narrow enough, was stuck in Preston Brook Tunnel.

Six fire engines

There is no information as to how it became jammed, but according to the Warrington Guardian it needed six fire engines to release it, Mike Daine reports.

Neither is it known how fire engines could be of any help, as eventually the fire people used a boat and equipment to free the boat then drag it out of the north end of the tunnel.

Remains closed

The tunnel remains closed to navigation until Canal & River Trust engineers are satisfied it is safe to reopen.
