Staffs & Worcs reopens sometime!

THE stoppage of the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal at Stewponey Lock will end next week and 'reopen on Tuesday the 17th' Canal & River Trust state.

The trust's 'Reactive Response Team' is to install the required new gate, Keith Gudgin reports.

The damage has been assessed, but the trust tells it is not something it has been able to quickly fix.

Later in its stoppage notice it is then stated the navigation will be open again 'by the end of next week', and will provide an update on the works and an 'expected reopening date by Wednesday 11th January'. 

Which is all something of a conundrum!
