More winter works added

TWO More winter works have been added to the list of those already stated.

This should of course help Canal & River Trust in its attempt to get more funds from the government showing that more work is being done to maintain the navigations.

Worcester & Birmingham Canal

Lock 3 on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal at Worcester will be closed from Monday 12th December to Thursday 15th as a stoppage is required to carry out repairs to the top end ground paddles.

These have caused a number of problems for boaters over the summer and causing the back pumps extra work due to the leakage and keeping the locks above supplied.

Hatton Flight

Hatton Flight on the Grand Union Canal will be closed from Wednesday 4th January until Friday 27th, two and a half weeks, to realign and refit both the top and bottom gates of Lock 29.

Again there is significant water loss which is causing problems for the volunteer lock keepers working the locks for boaters.

The flight is already closed over this period with work on Lock 25, so both jobs are being undertaken at the same time.
