Be aware of the protruding bolts

BOATERS should be aware of about six to eight bolts protruding into the canal at Lift Bridge 2 on the Prees Branch on the Llangollen Canal, Amy Dickerson writes.

They originally held a wooden rubbing strip that ensured your boat didn’t get snapped on the lifted bridge.

Boaters and Whixall Marina have reported this to Canal & River Trust. A number of boats have had their blacking removed by these bolts. Some bolts are above the water line and some are hidden under the water.

What plan to remove?

Given your report on the selling off of assets that enable repairs to be carried out, I wonder what sort of plan is required to remove and replace the rubbing strip and bolts.

Oh, this could be a five day minimum job to complete!
