Manchester Ship Canal no hardship

I REALISE that your correspondent is a non-boater and will not be aware of the Manchester Ship Canal writes James Henry.

But navigating this is no problem as it is really a normal canal and very little used and not like say the tidal Trent that is very much different, and going on the ship canal in a party of boats will make it a bit of a 'fun' event.

The problem

Yet there is the problem of the boaters being left right up at the top of the Shropshire Union and most likely days away from where they want to be.

In the better days of British Waterways stuck boats were hoisted by crane onto a lorry and taken where they should be, but those days are long gone.
