Caldon and Welford reopen

BOTH the Caldon Canal and Welford Arm have been reopened after closures.

It was the Ivyhouse Swing Bridge that failed on the Caldon on Tuesday, with its repair delayed owing to having to source parts for the bridge, Keith Gudgin reports.

These have been located and fitted with the bridge back in action.

Welford Arm

It was paddle failure that caused the closure of the lock leading to the arm from the Leicester Section on the Welford Arm that occurred yesterday, Thursday, with a quick repair to get the waterway reopened.
