Winkwell Swing Bridge repaired again

WINKWELL Swing Bridge on the Grand Union is repaired again, but it continues to be a problem, writes Roger Fox.

There must be a fundamental problem here. I know from my day job that the unavailability of components as well as the very short life span of some can be a problem.

Complete change every ten years

We reckon that we now need to programme complete change of theatre mechanical control systems every ten years. It is especially important for systems with a heavy duty cycle.

I wonder how the usage of Winkwell now compares with that when it was specified? When was the control installed?
