A MAN was ordered to pay £1,295 after he pleaded guilty to environmental offences of dumping waste.

Corey Carr was operating a waste clearance service on Facebook but took waste and burnt it anywhere he could including by the Wilts & Berks Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Passing helicopter caught him

It was a passing MoD helicopter that caught him depositing and burning waste that included a mattress on land owned by the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust at Melksham.

The video that was taken was displayed at the hearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court showing him burning the waste, and he was found to have been fly-tipping on land elsewhere.

Traced the waste

It was Environmental Enforcement Officers who traced the waste back to a house in Melksham, whose owner had paid for his services, so it was possible to show he had been paid to dump the waste, but did so unlawfully.

Corey Carr was given a 12 months Community Order and fined a total of £1,295. He was also ordered to attend 12 mental health sessions and 10 rehabilitation sessions.
