'Leak' closes the Huddersfield Narrow again

A 'LEAK' between Locks 20E and 21E at Slaithwaite has closed the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

Canal & River Trust state 'Another culvert leak has been found in the pound between Lock 20E and Lock 21E and we have had to close this section while we await on further investigations', Keith Gudgin reports.

Leak or breach?

It is of course not known if this is a leak or an actual breach that could closed the waterway for some time,

It is hoped that none of the four boats allowed through the tunnel during a week are trapped at this location as they will have to reverse through many locks should they wish to wind.

These leaks certainly give light to the shortage of water on this canal!
