Culvert leak closes 'Narrow'

A CULVERT leak on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has closed the waterway.

The leak means that there is no supply to locks below the drained pound  between locks 20E and little water to Lock 19E, Keith Gudgin reports.

Open tomorrow

Contractors are expected to repair the culvert leak once the pound has been pumped-out, with the hope that the navigation will be open by tomorrow, Sunday.

This is of course providing that the leak is not worse than is expected.
