Live blind dog dunped in Aston Canal

AN OBVIOUSLY terrified blind dog was thrown into the Aston Canal to drown and was believed dead.

But the little Shih Tzu was seen to move by a passer-by and pulled out of the canal and taken to his home where it was cared for, Keith Gudgin reports.

Needed more care

The rescuer realised the dog needed more care so took it to a vet, and it was passed on to the RSPCA and was identified as being around six years old, and was given the name of Ashton, but such was its condition it had to be treated at Greater Manchester Animal Hospital for emergency treatment.

It is now doing well and is expected to be taken by an interested couple.
