Workboats now breaking down!

THE stoppage on the Wigan Flight has been extended as the workboat has broken down and needs repairs.

This stoppage on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal has been extended into next month as Canal & River Trust state that the workboat needs repairs, Keith Gudgin reports.

Closed early January

Locks 65 Top Lock, Lock 68, Lock 73, Lock 77 & Lock 83 will all have resin grouting put behind the lock walls to fill up any voids and prevent deterioration of the lock structure, with the flight being closed on the 4th of January for the work.

A further delay was a problem with the manufacturing of the Lock Gates for Lock 73.

There is no definite date set for completion of the work.
