STORM Eunice resulted in hundreds of trees falling on the waterways.

Canal & River Trust tell that the storm has caused a great deal of damage with hundreds of trees falling on the waterways.

The storm also resulted in widespread flooding across the network and some structural damage to buildings and winter works construction sites, that will take time to repair.

450 trees felled

Altogether the trust reports 450 trees felled, with two thirds of them cleared the first week, with the remainder more difficult and so taking longer.

The flooding caused emergency pumps to be brought in at several locations, it states, causing around £300k of additional spend.
