Cox still on the Rocks
COXHEAD Swing Bridge (20) on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is still out of action.
This means it is in the closed position so there can be no passage, Keith Gudgin reports.
Storm damage
The bridge was closed on the 17th after the storm damage had put it out of action, with contractors assessing the damage and reporting back.
It was discovered that the parts required to get it working were not in stock so have to be sourced, meaning the bridge is still out of action. Howerever we are promised an update this coming Friday, when hopefully it will be repaired.
In the meantime another Leeds & Liverpool swing bridge had broken, this time Spencer's Swing Bridge (36) at Parbold, but had been repaired and the navigation reopened.
LATEST: Friday 26th February
The swing bridge has now been repaired and the navigation reopened.
