Swarkestone gets no attention though closed over a week

SWARKESTONE Lock that was closed last Thursday has still not had any attention.

SwarkestoneCanal & River Trust are blaming vandalism, not only for Swarkestone failing, but the reason it cannot be attended to, telling—'due to vandalism on another part of our network, this has caused delays in our maintenance team being able to commence work at Swarkestone Lock'.

Vandalism but no stoppage notice

We are not told where this 'vandalism' is—with no stoppage notice issued—and all we were told was the 'vandalism' to Swarkestone was caused by a boat, with the trust now telling boaters: 'Please be assured that it is being prioritised and we are doing all we can'.

In reporting this our Keith Gudgin remarked—They shouldn't have sacked all their staff, then perhaps they might have someone to go and fix it?—Which has been proven time and time again.
