HERE we go again (with the Winkwell Swing Bridge), writes Roger Fox.

It would interesting to know if there is a single recurrent problem or a series of problems all of which prevent the mechanism operating. Is it a mechanical or an electrical problem?

Depth problems

There are depth problems for boats who may be caught by the closure. There is little depth opposite the boatyard on the downhill side and I know that we cannot get near the bank.

Things are somewhat better where there are moorings opposite the pub but if the level drops by only a small amount boats get marooned. In view of the regular closures maybe a bit of dredging might be considered as part of the remedial works?
