A big con

JUST seen a boat with dead fish trailing behind it on the news that is an attempt to confirm barges are killing fish, writes David Rider.

But there certainly were not the hundreds as claimed by the Angling Trust, only a few, and as a northern boater of many years I have often seen passing boats, especially the deep draughted barges that use the Aire & Calder with fish in their wakes.

But they are dead fish resting on the bottom that get stirred up, and certainly not fish being killed by passing boats as that trust would like us to believe.

This is no more than another ploy in an attempt to get rid of the boats so as to have the navigation to themselves and is nothing more than a big con.

They must not be allowed to get away with it, otherwise before long they will set their sights on all boats, and there will be others following suit.
