Man was cutting four safety ladders on Lee & Stort

THE man photographed cutting metal off the Lea & Stort Navigation piling has been found to have cut safety ladders.

CuttingSteelThe man who was espied complete with battery powered angle grinder cutting at piling has been found to have cut four safety ladders in the navigation, thus making it most dangerous for anyone in the water attempting to get out,  Giles Williams reports.

Not legitimate

He was no professional on legitimate work as he had no safety gear whatsoever and it was not known what his purpose was.

But it has been confirmed he has cut four safety ladders—all done in half an hour it seems, that was not only dangerous for anyone in difficulties but illegal as it was a criminal act.

What is surprising is that it was reported he was dressed in the Lea Rowing Club colours, that if correct means he was removing something that is there for his own safety!
