Two more winter stoppages cancelled

TWO winter stoppages connected with Kennet & Avon Canal pumping stations have been cancelled.

This brings the total of winter repairs that have been cancelled to 13—that will certainly prove to be an unlucky number for boaters trapped should any of the cancelled work fail thus leaving them stranded.

Work no longer required

This time we are informed that the work is no longer required at one pumping station and delays concerning supplies have prevented work at another pumping station on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

In the case of Bradford-on-Avon Pumping Station at Bridge 172 the engineers have reviewed the works and determined that they are no longer required, this being due to the successful works on the pumping station earlier in the year. that included work on both the pumps and pipework.

In the case of Bath Pumping Station at Bridge 194 we are told it is 'supply issues' that have caused the cancellation, but in this case the work will be carried out later this year.
