Two men dragged out of Regent's Canal

THIS certainly seems to be the year of drownings, with two more being pulled from the water.

This occurred late Sunday evening in two separate incidents when two men were reported in the Regent's Canal at Islington and the emergency services called including the Metropolitan Marine Support Unit.

The first man pulled from the canal was treated by paramedics at the scene then taken to hospital and recovered.

The second man, discovered some time later, was pulled from the water and also treated by the paramedics and taken to hospital, but pronounced dead the following (Monday) morning.

Waterway and towpath closed

The waterway between City Road Lock and Froglane Bridge was closed by Canal & River Trust with the towpath also cordoned off.
