Delays with agreeing a design

THERE is a delay with the broken swing bridge on the Selby Canal.

The reason put forward for the delay in repairing the swing bridge is 'we have experienced some delays with agreeing a design for the temporary scaffold footbridge required', Keith Gudgin reports.

SelbySwingAllow people to cross

The footbridge is needed across the navigation before the bridge can be taken away from its 'closed' position to allow people to cross the canal.

It is hoped the pedestrian bridge installation will start on Wednesday 21st July 2021 and will be completed by Friday 30th July 2021.

After completion, the swing bridge will be opened to allow boat movement on the canal that was interupted way back on the 19th March.

Further restriction

But a further navigation restriction will take place on Thursday 5th August 2021 to allow the swing bridge to be lifted out and taken off site for repair.
