Sunk boat removed from Stenson Lock

THE boat that sank in Stenson Lock has been quickly removed.
It was on Wednesday of this week that the narrowboat sank in Stenson Lock, with River Canal Rescue quickly on the scene the following day and it was removed.
Caught on the cill
An onlooker now tells us:
"It seemed to me though the front caught on something and the back went under the water and sank, though someone in the café saw a lot of water coming in."
We were also informed that there were no volunteer lock keepers on duty watching the boat, who would have taken action.
[At first we were told it was caught on the cill, but on inspection the boat was obviously rising not descending.]
