Macc closed yet again

ONCE again the Macclesfield Canal is closed.

There is no definite reason given only that it is 'due an issue with a culvert', Keith Gudgin reports.

Investigating

The culvert is between bridges 38 and 39 in Macclesfield with Canal & River Trust giving the usual 'Our teams are investigating the issue to be able to create a suitable method of repair.

Last year the waterway was closed four times.  Our reporting an embankment stability issue on the 26th February then a further embankment failure on the 25th March followed by 'water resources' closing the waterway on the 29th April and a hole appearing on the 7th October.

The major problem with this canal is its unstable embankments causing stoppages.
