Ashby breach on new section and now secured

The breach on the Ashby Canal at Snarestone is now secured.

The breach is in the newly restored section and stop planks have been deployed at Snarestone so that the Ashby from there to Marston junction is not closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Take time to recover

It appears now that there is no danger to the water levels on either the Ashby or the Coventry from this breach, though the initial lack of water will take time to recover.

There is hole in the bed of the canal that all the water may have drained through, boaters in the area have confirmed to Keith.
