Pollution closes Sheffield & South Yorkshire

Published: Friday, 09 October 2020

AN ABSORBENT boom has been placed across the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Canal, closing the waterway.

This is between the Tulley's Marina and Rotherham Lock and has been installed to prevent pollution that has entered the waterway from spreading, Keith Gudgin reports.

Navigation not possible

Navigation is of course not possible until the pollution has been contained and removed.

It is understood the spill has come from the marina's slipway.

LATEST:

Pollution revoved, navigation open.
