THE many shops operated for boaters by Canal & River Trust have still not re-opened.

Though relaxation of the coronavirus rules has now allowed shop opening, providing certain distancing is maintained, Canal & River Trust are still keeping their own shops closed.

Awkward for continuous cruisers

This means that boaters are unable to pick up such as pump-out cards and the like but have to rely on the Trust's postal service, that is most awkward for continuous cruisers, they having to arrange to pick up from post offices, that are all too often many miles distant.

It its declaration the Trust announce:  'Pump-out cards are available from our online shop—please order well in advance as they may take longer than usual to be delivered. Our offices remain closed for all but operational purposes until further notice'.

Closed five months

It was way back in March that the Trust closed its shops, and though there has been relaxation of the coronavirus rules as the pandemic has been more contained and shops of many kinds have been allowed to open, but those supplying the needs of boaters are still closed, it relying on a postal service that is causing much distress to boaters unable to reach post offices.
