Huddersfield Narrow closed again

THE Huddersfield Narrow Canal is closed again, by the discovery of another 'void'.

This further void has appeared in between locks 29 and 30 East, with the waterway now closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Low pound

The loss of water through this void means that there is now no longer enough water in the pound to allow navigation and so it has to be closed until this can be inspected.

The stoppage notice is somewhat misleading, as, though it states a void as the cause of the stoppage, it also states a structure failure.

But whatever, the waterway is once again closed until the problem can be solved.
