Another Grand Union lock closure

ADDING to the closure of Ivinghoe Lock (32) on the Grand Union Canal comes notice of another with 'structure failure'.

So Lock 71 at King's Langley joins the list which is now broken and the navigation closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Closed until further notice

Canal & River Trust tell that it is closed until further notice but will be inspected, 'once engines have been to site to assess the damage'.  (Its spelling!)

Keith asked what engines? Fire engines, steam engines, perpetual motion engines?

At least these 'Cartisms' bring a bit of light relief to what after all is a tragic situation for boaters.
