BACK issues of narrowboatworld show 10 articles concerning failures of the pumps at Tinsley on the Sheffield & South Yorkshire navigation.

It was hoped that with the installation of new pumps in March of this year the reoccurring problems would be over, but alas they are not, Keith Gudgin reports.

For there is a failure once again but we are told that engineers are attending the site to carry out inspection of the failure.

Emergency pumps

However it is also stated that emergency pumps will have to be installed, which is not saying much for the replacement pumps, especially as the Coronavirus pandemic prevented the locks being operated.

At the time of the installation one wit at the nearby moorings told that the 'new' pumps did not look very new to him and thought they were out of a scrap yard!
