'Something sunk' closes Oxford Canal - now open

THERE is 'something sunk' in a lock that has closed the Oxford Canhal at Banbury.

Grant's Lock (30) is presently unworkable owing to an obstruction in the lock chamber, Keith Gudgin reports.

Investigated today

This is to be investigated today (Friday) but in the meantime the navigation is closed.

All too often in the past objects in locks have proved to be bodies (there were two last year), so the hope is that this isn't.

Lock now open, but not told what the object was—but obvioulsy not a body!
