Coxhead Swing Bridge back in use

THE Canal & River Trust have Coxhead Swing Bridge (20) back is use.

Situated near Lydiate on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this was put out of action by a vehicle strike, breaking off a barrier during the middle of January, Keith Gudgin reports.

Remain closed

This meant that the bridge had to remain in the closed position to allow vehicular traffic, but stopping navigation.

The delay in its repair was caused by having to source the part needed to repair the barrier, that was eventually found and installed.  The bridge can again be worked with no restriction to navigation.
